Chiefs vs Ravens 3:25pm CST
One of these teams will be 1-3. I had a hard time this week asking myself who could realistically afford to be 1-3 and still have a solid shot to make the playoffs, and it really took some deliberation. Baltimore although has had several poor performances on the defensive side of the ball, have an easier path to the post season. The Chiefs on the other hand, who are struggling as a football team in ways we had not seen in recent years. The next six opponents for Kansas City are the Lions, Raiders, Commanders, Bills, Broncos and Colts. If they can’t right the ship they could be staring at 3-6 and in last place in the division.

MVP Watch begins with Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Baker Mayfield. Visit our Weekly MV[ Watch, where we track our favorites for the honor. We, unlike the actual AP Voters, rank these fairly and based on the play on the filed. We do not limit the finalists in our eyes, to the Quarterback on the #1 seed of the AFC or NFC.
Justin Herbert is first in our rankings. It’s become obvious that in some way, Jim Harbaugh has propelled Herbert to the next level. Harbaugh himself said last week, it’s hard to find areas of improvement because he’s so elite at everything. That is on full display more than it ever has been. 860 passing yards, 6 TDs, and 69 rushing yards. Record 3-0
Josh Allen is second this week. Allen is clearly still in his peak prime. He hasn’t lost a step. He like Herbert, is very elite at most aspects of his game. We already have seen him improve his patients and ability to not force a big play all the time. 755 passing yards, 5 passing TDs, 0 INT, 114 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs
Baker Mayfield is at the top of our list of best QB’s in football. The Buccaneers have just been an absolute offensive juggernaut ever since he arrived in town. His last two offensive coordinators have become head coaches, and he continues to stay poised and confident late in games when it matters most. He definitely has found the prime of his career. 615 passing yards, 6 passing TDs, 0 INT, 116 rushing yards
Eagles Bucs
This one should be a showdown. Baker Mayfield is near the top of our ProFootballPulse MVP Watch this week. In recent years, Baker and the Bucs have had the Eagles’ number. Last season a win at home 33-16, and in the 2024 Wild Card Game to end The Eagles’ 2023 season. There really is no doubt that the Eagles are the best roster in football, but Tampa Bay is right up there with them when it comes to talent.
Chargers @ Giants 12:00 pm CST
The Chargers are elite. No two thoughts about it. Herbert has excelled his game play, the defense is strong and the team is really a reflection of their second year head coach. On the other side the talk of the week is Rookie Quarterback Jaxon Dart. He’ll get his first NFL start trying to spark the G-men’s 0-3 start. The Chargers look to stay unbeaten at the top of the rankings.
Colts at Rams 3:05pm CST
This by no means is a must win for either team but there is a lot on the line, a lot to be proven on both sides if rams fall they will have to fight all season like they did a year ago when they were 4-4 at one time Not the best recipe for a guy like Matt Stafford
Jaguars at 49ers 3:05pm CST
This one is saucy Brock Purdy is back, keeping Mac Jones on the bench against his most recent former team. The Jags look nice this year, seem to be well coached. The 49ers I think have a systematic problem in the health area. Way too many injuries, way to often, and way too serious in most cases. I still think the 49ers are still a team that can hang around and be a problem all season long. The Jaguars I think will keep rolling and San Fran might stumble. Two very evenly matched teams and this one should be a fun watch.
Packers at Cowboys Sunday Night Football 7:20pm CST
I think Green Bay has a guy who used to play for Dallas. Dallas is certainly equipped to pull off an upset. They certainly have a superior team than that of The Browns who stole one from Green Bay last week. The Cowboys are at home and coming off a loss. Brian Schottenheimer to me has looked the part in his first few games as a head coach. This will be a nice test to see how he matched up against one of the elite coaches in Matt LeFleur.
